Abenteuerliches Escape Room Graz bei Fox in a Box mit Haus- und Rätselspaß.

What to do when you can’t go to an escape room?

Here are 10 tips to beat boredom!

The current situation is what it is…

We’re pretty sure it’s a dream for introverts—those who get goosebumps when someone cancels plans for them, and who can simply relax within their own four walls without having to do anything. But for others who can’t stand spending even an hour alone, or for those who are simply addicted to being outdoors, isolation and quarantine can feel like a nightmare!

Fortunately, staying at home doesn’t have to be boring, and there are always plenty of interesting things we can do—not just to pass the time, but to actually have fun!

1. Get some exercise! Sure, gyms are currently closed, but that shouldn’t stop you from breaking a sweat every day. If you feel like you can’t motivate yourself to do sit-ups or yoga without a personal trainer, there are tons of fitness videos on YouTube you can follow!

2. Cook for yourself and your family! The internet is an ocean of recipes and cooking shows. Just choose your favorite cuisine, do a bit of googling, turn on the stove, and use your time to become a top chef! We suspect many people are trying their hand at baking bread, since yeast is currently quite hard to find.

3. Read a new book! With today’s fast-paced lifestyle, it often feels like we only read work documents and overly long Facebook comments. Use this free time to put your phone down, put your feet up, and dive into that paperback that’s been staring at you from the shelf for a year. Why not make it a trilogy?!

4. How about a DIY project? Make your own soap! The most important recommendation these days is to wash your hands. So if there’s something missing in supermarkets, it must be soap! We’re sure you’ve already stocked up and don’t need to make your own, but it’s actually a lot of fun! Just google a few recipes and get started!

5. Play board games! Board games are a great way to spend time with your family, and they’re fun for people of all ages. So set up the Monopoly board and start buying properties and building hotels! Or, if you prefer something simpler, play a game of checkers. If you don’t have any board games at home, there’s an almost endless list of social games you can play with just pen and paper!

6. Clean out your closet! It seems like it’s finally time to get that wardrobe under control. Tidying up your closet can feel overwhelming, but now you can finally go through all your things at your own pace and decide what to keep and what to throw away. Use this time to clean and organize your belongings exactly the way you’ve always wanted—down to the smallest detail!

7. Take an online course! A great quote that comes to mind here is: “Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune.” But even if becoming incredibly wealthy isn’t your goal, a mindset of lifelong learning will improve your understanding of the world around you, open doors to new opportunities, and enhance your overall quality of life. So pick an online course you find useful and get started!

8. Take a nap! We don’t think you need much instruction here. It’s the perfect opportunity to get some good sleep and nap at any time of the day. With no boss looking over your shoulder and schools closed for the time being, you finally have an excuse to spend the whole day in your pajamas!

9. Get creative! We all have an inner artist hidden somewhere deep inside us. So what better time to let go and get those creative juices flowing! Grab a paintbrush and get your hands dirty with some abstract art, or finally write that novel you’ve always wanted to—but never had the time for!

10. Make a travel bucket list! You know this situation won’t last forever. Use this time to create a list of all the wonderful and exotic destinations you want to visit before you kick the bucket. Sooner or later, you’ll have the chance to make it happen!

We hope all these ideas make your time at home more enjoyable and that you use this opportunity to have fun and spend time with your family and loved ones! Oh, and don’t forget to go for a walk every now and then!
